The most powerful weapon against child abuse, it knowledge.  In order to combat the issue, we have to bring it out into the open. So many of us think that not talking about it will make it go away. Or by keeping it a secret, we don't have to deal with it.

But the truth is, as with all secrets, it will come back to haunt you. You can go your whole life never talking about it. But how much life are you missing out on by allowing this painful memory to fester in your mind?

I never thought that I would want to tell my story. I was too ashamed and hurt. But now I see that each time I share the pains of my past, it gets easier and I gain a part of myself that I never knew was missing.

So I encourage you to share your painful memories of the past. Bring it out into the light. Tell your story and be a blessing to someone else, while giving yourself yet another opportunity to heal and grow.
